Billing Custom Drugs (ODB)

Use this process when a drug is covered by ODB, requires a pseudo DIN, and you want the drug name to differ from the exact flavour or description listed in the ODB formulary.

Open or Create the Drug

  1. Search for the drug and go to it
  1. If the drug is already linked, click Drug Links.
      • If it is not linked, select Custom Drug.
  1. Click Edit Drug.

Enter Drug Details

  1. Enter the pseudo DIN in the DIN Number field.
  1. Enter the drug name.
  1. Set the Status to Marketed.
  1. Click Update / Save Drug.

Configure Billing as a Pack (If Required)

If the drug must be billed as a pack:

  1. Go to the Plans tab.
  1. Add ODB (or the applicable plan).
  1. Enable Bill as Pack.
  1. Set:
      • Province: Ontario
      • Pack Size: All
  1. Click Save.

Test Billing

  1. Go to the Rx Dispensing screen.
  1. Attempt to bill the drug to confirm it processes correctly.

Additional Notes

  • If the product has a case GTIN on the box, search it up on McKesson and use the unit GTIN if you want the drug to be linked globally.
  • Always check the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Formulary website to:
    • Confirm coverage
    • Find the correct pseudo DIN
    • Verify product eligibility
