This section describes how to enter, process, and bill narcotics for patients covered under ODB or private insurance.
1. Search for the Prescription
- Navigate to the Rx tab.
- Search for the patient, drug, and prescribing doctor.
- The system will automatically flag narcotics (e.g., methadone).
Note: Narcotic prescriptions have special restrictions and billing rules.
2. Prescription Quantity and Supervision
- The Remaining Quantity and Authorized Quantity fields will be grayed out.
- Methadone must be taken in-store under the supervision of a pharmacist on duty, so:
- Quantity and days supply will usually default to 1.

3. Setting Rx Dates
- Under the SIG section, click Enter Rx Dates To Prefill Fields.

- Select the Rx Start Date and Rx End Date.
- Choose the Observed Dates by checking the relevant boxes.
- The system will automatically highlight these dates in the calendar below.
- The system calculates Observed Days and Carry Days based on the date range.
- Click Save Dates.

4. Continuing and Billing the Prescription
- Click Continue on the Rx screen.
- A popup will appear asking how you want to fill the prescription:
- Batch Filling:
- Submit the prescription to your batch for automated daily filling.
- Select the number of refills to include.
- Manual Billing:
- Fill the prescription manually for this instance.
- Click One-Click Submit All, then Submit.

Quick Tip: Use batch filling for recurring narcotics (e.g. methadone) patients to save time and reduce any errors.
