Completing a MedsCheck

Box Labs makes it easy to identify eligible patients, complete MedsChecks efficiently, and submit billing.

Accessing MedsCheck-Eligible Patients


  1. Navigate to the Dashboard tab to view all available clinical interventions.
  1. Select MedsCheck Eligible.
      • The list displays patients who are currently eligible for a MedsCheck.
        • Patients appear on this list if they:
          • Are taking three or more medications
          • Are scheduled to come in within the next 2–3 days
          • Have visited the pharmacy in the previous 2–3 days
        • This list is always current and will not include patients who have recently completed a MedsCheck.
      • In this example, there are 16 eligible patients.

  1. Select the patient you wish to complete a MedsCheck for by clicking on their name.

Alternative Way to Start a MedsCheck


You can also initiate a MedsCheck directly from the patient profile:

  1. Open the patient profile.
  1. Click the three-dot menu on the right-hand side.
  1. Select MedsCheck to begin the process.

Completing the MedsCheck


  1. Once on the MedsCheck screen, begin filling out the required information.
  1. You can save your progress at any time by clicking the save button in the top-right corner.
  1. All dropdown fields are prepopulated to reduce manual entry and minimize errors.
      • If needed, you can still type custom entries.

Medications and Patient Information


  1. Select the drugs discussed during the consultation.
  1. Navigate to the Patient Info tab.
      • The primary care provider field is automatically populated based on the patient’s previous prescribers.
      • When a doctor is selected, their phone and fax numbers are automatically filled in from the prescriber profile.
  1. Complete all required fields.
  1. Continue moving through each tab until you reach the final section.

Validation and Submission


  • The system will check for missing information.
  • If any required fields are incomplete, you will be prompted to fill them in before submission.

Finalizing, Signing, and Billing


  1. During finalization:
      • The pharmacist’s signature is automatically prepopulated if it has been saved in the profile.
      • You need to get the required patient signature if you don’t have it already.
  1. Save the MedsCheck.
  1. Proceed to Adjudicate.
  1. Enter the required billing information and click Adjudicate.
      • The claim will be submitted and billed successfully.

Viewing Completed MedsChecks


  1. Open the patient profile.
  1. Go to Patient Documents.
  1. The completed MedsCheck will appear in the list.
      • Click the three-dot menu to view specific sections.
      • You may also reopen the MedsCheck by clicking on it here and then select Open All Current MedsCheck Info as PDF.
        • This may take a few seconds to load, as the file can be quite large.
